Though Prop 64 passed in November of 2016, which retroactively allowed you the chance to get your case re-sentenced, dismissed, or sealed, only 23 people had come forward in San Francisco to petition their cases. Now, over 9,000 eligible cases will be presented to a San Francisco judge in the coming weeks.
San Francisco is the first jurisdiction in the country to take action in clearing old marijuana convictions and some jurisdictions are beginning similar work; however, in most jurisdictions it is still up to you to take action. Scot Candell & Associates has considerable experience with expungements in California and is only a phone call away if you need help with yours.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”10291″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” border_color=”black”][vc_column_text]Contact with the criminal justice system should not be a life sentence. Reforms like Prop 64 for marijuana related convictions and Prop 47 for nonviolent, nonserious crimes have allowed many to continue their lives free of the burden of a criminal record. That marijuana possession charge can now be dismissed. Call if you have any questions.
